Kono Michi is as much at home in the indie music world as a songwriter and singer as she is as an international classical violinist. Using strings, voice, computer, toy instruments, random objects, and the occasional passing dove as her primary tools, she records and produces material at home in her Brooklyn apartment studio.
In a recent appearance at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC, Kono Michi sang and played her songs with string orchestra, drums, and bass. She will arrange her music for full electric band in an upcoming UK tour this fall [see News]. Her latest recording project, The One More Day E.P., was recently released on Scottish indie label Shark Batter Records. Kono Michi's debut album, 9 Death Haiku, is listed as #19 on the Top 30 Best Albums of the Decade by Playback: STL Magazine. She has earned rave reviews internationally in both classical and non-classical magazines and newspapers, and her songs and arrangements have been broadcast on NPR's Performance Today, WNYC, WCNY, and on the BBC 1, 3, and 6 Music shows.
